Houston Indian Cricket Club (HICC) is proud to be one of the most established and celebrated cricket clubs in Houston. Founded in 1986 by cricket enthusiasts Vasant Patel and Ghanshyam Patel, what started as a small group of friends playing on weekends has grown into a vibrant community hub for cricket lovers in the city. At a time when many families from cricket-loving nations like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and the Caribbean were making Houston their new home, HICC offered more than just a place to play—it became a space to stay connected to cultural roots while embracing American life. Our home ground, the Sardar Patel Stadium in Richmond, Texas, remains the heart of our club. HICC has made a mark on the field, winning the Houston Cricket League championship seven times and finishing as runners-up three times over a 14-year span. But our true legacy goes beyond trophies. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we’ve built a close-knit cricketing family that welcomes cricketers from every age group and skill level—not just to play, but to enjoy the spirit of cricket, forge friendships, and create lasting bonds. HICC currently fields three teams across different divisions, ensuring that players of all abilities have a place to belong. As we approach our 40th anniversary, we’re excited to keep the tradition alive while encouraging the next generation to lead with fresh ideas and renewed passion. Thanks to the dedication of our members and supporters, HICC helped lay the foundation for Houston’s rise as a cricket hub—well before professional leagues came into the picture. For us, cricket is more than a game—it’s the sound of home, heritage, and heart!
